会話の聴き取り練習(2)

A: What’s your favorite subject in school?
B: I like art class.
A: That makes sense. You’re so creative. Me, I can’t draw a stick figure.

whatの語尾の[t]の音が消えている。

A: 学校で一番好きな科目は何ですか？
B：美術の授業が好きです。
A：なるほどね。あなたはとてもクリエイティブだものね。私は、棒人間も描けないわ。
*make senseは「（行動・説明などが）筋が通る、道理にかなう」、stick figureは「棒人間」という意味。

A: What did you buy at the market?
B: I bought some fruits.
A: What was in season?
B: It’s fall, so there were apples and pumpkins.

A: マーケットで何を買いましたか？
B: 果物を買いました。
A：何が旬だったんですか？
B：秋だから、リンゴとカボチャがありましたよ。

A: Where is the bank?
B: It’s downtown.
A: How can I get there?
B: You could take the bus or walk if it’s a nice day.

Bの発言の中の、「bus or」と「walk if」と「if it’s」と「it’s a」のところにリンキングが起きている。

A: 銀行はどこですか？
B: 繁華街にあります。
A: どうやって行けばいいですか？
B: バスに乗るか、天気のいい日なら歩くといいですよ。
*downtownは「町の中心街や繁華街」という意味。

A: Who’s that guy talking to your brother?
B: That’s my dad.
A: Wow, I should’ve guessed. You look just like him,
B: Thanks. It’s the eyes.

二つ目のAの発言の中に、「should have 過去分詞」の短縮形の「should’ve 過去分詞」が使われている。

A: お兄ちゃんと話しているのは誰？
B: あれは僕のお父さんだよ。
A: わあ、そうだったんだ。君はお父さんにそっくりだね。
B: ありがとう。目が似てるんだ。

A: Do you have a pencil I could borrow?
B: No, sorry. Could I offer you a pen?
A: That will work. Thanks!

A: 鉛筆持ってませんか？
B: いいえ、すみません。ペンでいいですか。
A: ペンで大丈夫です。ありがとうございます。

A: What day is today?
B: Today is Thursday.
A: Friday can’t come soon enough.

A: 今日は何曜日ですか？
B: 今日は木曜日です。
A: 金曜日が早く来ないかな。

A: I can’t wait for the weekend.
B: Do you have any fun plans?
A: Nope. I’m just going to sleep.
B: Sounds good. I might do the same.

A: 週末が待ち遠しいです。
B: 何か楽しい予定はあるの？
A: ないわ。ただ、寝るだけだよ。
B: いいね。僕もそうしようかな。
